THIS SEASON: Murphy Slater enters his third season of competition at USC.
2016: Slater scored three goals as a redshirt sophomore... Scored in three games.
2015: Slater scored six goals as a redshirt freshman... Scored in four games with while setting his career high with a hat trick against Whittier on Sept. 12, also where his first career goal as a Trojan was scored.
2014: Slater redshirted his first season at USC.
HIGH SCHOOL: Slater was named league MVP as a senior out of Wilson High in Long Beach, Calif.... Also a three-time all-league first-team pick and a second-team honoree as a freshman... Named the Press Telegram Dream Team Player of the Year as a senior... Also earned All-CIF Team honors and named a High School All-American... A member of the 2011 CIF Division II championship team and a 2012 CIF Division I finalist... Played club for Long Beach Shore Aquatics and Newport WPF... An honor student.
PERSONAL: Slater is majoring in policy planning and development... Parents are Dan and Janet... Has three sisters, Melanie, Lily and Claire, and one brother, Kirby... Sister Melanie also plays water polo at USC... His parents as well as his aunts Tracy Slater, Liz Slater, Louise McNeil and uncle Don McNeil also attended USC... Enjoys hanging out with friends and family, and playing basketball and video games in his free time... Lists Shaquille O’Neal as his biggest sports hero... Would like to travel to Spain, Greece, England, Ireland, Australia and the Bahamas... Born July 28, 1996.
