THIS SEASON: Simon Wu enters his second season of competition at USC.
2016: Wu appeared in eight games as a redshirt freshman goalie... Made 25 saves and allowed 12 goals to average 6.67 saves and 3.2 goals-against per game... First complete game was a 10-0 shutout of Penn State Behrend, where Wu made five saves.
2015: Wu redshirted his first season at USC.
NATIONAL TEAMS: Wu is a member of the Canadian Junior National Team... Won bronze medal at the 2014 Junior Pan American Games... Also has been a member of the Canadian Youth and Cadet National Teams.
HIGH SCHOOL: Wu is a 2015 graduate of Point Grey Secondary in Vancouver, British Columbia... Played club for Pacific Storm Water Polo... Was named Most Valuable Goalie at the 2014 National Development Premier League Finals... Team won 2013 and 2014 NCPL championships and a bronze medal in the league in 2012... Was runner-up in the National Championship League in 2015... Won 2011 U16 National Championship with Pacific Storm and was runner-up in 2014 at the U18 level... A honor student at Point Grey Secondary, and a student council member.
PERSONAL: Wu is majoring in political science and hopes to pursue a career as a lawyer... Mother is Linny Ye... Enjoys listening to music, playing pickup basketball and hanging out with friends in his free time... Lists Kobe Bryant as his biggest sports hero... Has always wanted to skydive... Hopes to travel to Europe and backpack across Southeast Asia... Was active in the Royal Conservatory of Music in speech and drama... Born March 21, 1997.
