BREAKDOWN:
James Blasczyk is a 7-foot-1, 260-pound senior center provides the Trojans depth at the center and forward position. Blasczyk became an immediate fan favorite in his first season for his constant hustle and the way he played through injury.
2011-12:
Blasczyk played in all 32 games for USC, making 12 starts despite a bone bruise and mid-right foot sprain which limited him in practice for much of the season. One of just five players to appear in all 32 games. He averaged 3.2 points and 2.9 rebounds. Made 12 starts (including the last 11 games) and averaged 4.2 points. Converted on 45.3 percent of his shots (43-for-95), third best on the team. Started for the first time on Nov. 30 at UC Riverside and scored four points in 15 minutes. Scored a career-high 10 points and grabbed three rebounds while matching a career high with 33 minutes played vs. Washington on March 1. Scored eight points and had six rebounds in 33 minutes at Arizona on Feb. 23...also scored eight points vs. Colorado on Jan. 26 and vs. California on Feb. 9. Grabbed a career-high seven rebounds vs. Colorado on Jan. 26.
2010-11:
Blasczyk attended Lee College in Baytown, Texas, but did not play so that he would have two seasons of eligibily remaining.
2009-10:
Appreared in 13 games for the Aggies, averaging 0.4 points and 0.3 rebounds per game in a total of 20 minutes played. He made two of five shots taken and grabbed four rebounds. Made the only shot he took on Dec. 2 vs. Prairie View A&M and on Jan. 12 vs. Kansas State.
2008-09:
Redshirted his first season at Texas A&M.
HIGH SCHOOL:
Blasczyk attended Friendswood HS in Friendswood, Texas and averaged 14.6 points and 9.7 rebounds, while earning district defensive player of the year honors. TexasHoops.com rated him as one of the top 50 prospects in the state of Texas as a high school senior. Averaged 8.3 points, 7.1 rebounds and 4.1 blocks as a junior. Earned three varsity letters. Scored a career-best 27 points with a career-high 17 rebounds against the Dallas Mustangs in 2007 as a member of Houston Select, one the top AAU programs in the nation. PERSONAL:
James Ethan Blasczyk was born on April 7, 1990 in Michigan. He is the son of Jim and Ginny Blasczyk. He would eventually like to coach basketball. His favorite NBA team is the 2011 NBA champion Dallas Mavericks and his favorite player is Dirk Nowitzki. Has played the drums since sixth grade. Was also recruited by Texas, Oklahoma, Baylor and Pittsburgh out of high school before choosing Texas A&M.
