BREAKDOWN: Samer (Sumair) Dhillon is a 6-foot-8, 220-pound senior who adds to the Trojans depth in the frontcourt. He is one of the first Indian basketball player to compete in a BCS conference. 2015-16: Dhillon played in six games off the bench, totaling eight minutes of action. Made his only shot of the season count, scoring a tough double-teamed short jumper to notch USC's 100th point in the win vs. Lafayette on Dec. 23. It was his first points since his freshman season. Dhillon was named to the NABC Good Works Team and was one of five Division I players honored in Houston at the Final Four for working for the greater good of their community. .
2014-15: Dhillon played in four games, totaling six minutes of action. He played vs. LMU on Dec. 3, at Arizona on Feb. 19, vs. Washington on Feb. 28 and vs. UCLA in the Pac-12 Tournament on March 12. Following the season he was bestowed the Dr. James Zumberge Award for the top GPA for the second consecutive season and presented the Ernie Holbrook Award as the Most Inspirational Player at the team awards banquet.
2013-14: Dhillon played in three games and scored two points and grabbed one rebound. Made his collegiate debut on Nov. 21 vs. West Alabama when he played one minute and had a rebound and a missed shot. His second game was vs. Howard on Dec. 29 when he played two minutes and took one shot. Scored his first points with a basket at Stanford on Feb. 20. Given the Dr. James Zumberge Award at the team's 2014 banquet for having the top GPA on the team.
HIGH SCHOOL: Dhillon averaged 13.6 points and 11.0 rebounds and served as team captain as a senior at Inderkum High. He helped lead his team to its first TCC league title in school history and the most wins in school history. Dhillon was also class valedictorian and the student body president. He finished high school with a 4.5 GPA.
PERSONAL: Sam was born on April 18, 1995 in Sacramento, Calif. His parents are Surjit and Harjit and he has an older sister, Raveet. He is a Human Biology major and a Business Entrepreneurship minor at USC with professional goals to become a doctor. He is the CEO of Quest Investment Firm, an investment advisory firm based in LA managing millions of dollars in assets. He chose USC because of Andy Enfield and his coaching staff as well as the great academics. Dhillon was valedictorian and ASB President of his high school with a 4.56 GPA. He played on the AAU team Play Hard Play Smart (PHPS). Currently, he is doing Alzheimer's research for the Department of Neuroscience at the Keck School of Medicine. Sam is the founder of Deep Roots Foundation, a nonprofit foundation focused on providing youth with opportunities to become leaders of tomorrow by excelling in academics, athletics, and community giving. Also, Sam is the co-founder of the first-ever USC mobile clinic to provide free health exams and diagnosis in the greater Los Angeles area. He is a fan of the movies Wolf of Wall Street and Iron Man and plays the violin as well as the piano. Sam likes to surf, travel, and hike in his spare time.
