THIS SEASON: A well-rounded swimmer who excels in distance events, 2015 senior Cary Wright, a 2011-2012 U.S. National Junior Team member, is coming off his best season as a Trojan and looks to repeat as an NCAA participant and three-time Pac-12 top 8 finisher. He is among USC[apos]s top 10 all-time in the 200y fly and 400y IM.
2014: Wright completed a superb 2014 junior season by reaching his first NCAA Championships. He just missed earning a second swim in the 200y fly, taking 19th (1:43.64). He was also 27th in the 1650y free (15:09.45) and 28th in the 400y IM (3:47.66) in the grueling three-event set ... At the 2014 Pac-12s, Wright repeated as a 200y fly finalist, finishing sixth in 1:44.90, posted another top 8 finish in the 1650y free with a seventh (15:13.33) and reached the 400y IM final for the first time, finishing seventh (3:48.82) ... At the 2014 U.S. Summer Nationals, Wright finished one spot out of the semifinal of the 200m fly, taking 17th (1:59.83). He was also 28th in the 200m back and 38th in the 400m IM ... He was a Pac-12 All-Academic first-team selection with a 3.59 GPA in Health Promotion.
2013: Wright finished eighth in both the 200y fly (1:46.94) and the 1650y free (15:23.94) at the 2013 Pac-12 Championships as a 2013 sophomore, both career bests. He was also 17th in the 400y IM (3:51.08) ... At the 2012 U.S. Winter Nationals, he was sixth in the 1650y free (15:12.47), was fourth in the `B[apos] final of the 200y fly (1:47.30) and won the `C[apos] final of the 400y IM (3:50.66) ... At the 2013 U.S. Summer Nationals, he was fifth in the 1500m free (15:39.27), and was 16th in the 200m back (2:03.09) and the 800m free (8:16.45) ... He earned 2013 Pac-12 All-Academic second team and CSCAA Scholar All-American honorable mention honors.
2012: As a 2012 freshman, Wright was 14th in the 1650y free (15:42.01) and 15th in the 400y IM (3:54.82) at the 2012 Pac-12 Championships ... Wright earned 2012 College Swimming Coaches Association of America Scholar All-America Team honorable mention honors ... At the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials, Wright had a solid outing, taking 27th in the 200m fly (2:00.94) and 30th in the 1500m free (15:41.00).
HIGH SCHOOL: Wright was a 14-time prep All-American at Clovis West High in Fresno, Calif., earning CIF Central Section Swimmer of the Year honors as a junior and a senior as well as Academic All-American honors his final three years in school ... He was tabbed Clovis West Swimming and Diving MVP as a junior and a senior ... He won CIF Central Section titles in the 500y free as a junior and a senior, claimed the 100y back as a senior and the 200y free as a junior ... He was sixth in the 5k at the 2011 National Open Water Championships and was ninth in the 5k in 2010. Also in 2011, he was 28th in the 10k ... At the 2011 U.S. Nationals, he was 28th in the 200m fly and 69th in the 1500m free ... At the 2011 junior nationals, he was seventh in the 200m fly. In 2010, he was sixth in the 200m fly and ninth in the 1500m free.

PERSONAL: Born Nov. 29, 1992. He is studying health promotion and disease prevention ... He was the Clovis West High Salutatorian, a Scholar of Academic Distinction, an AP Scholar and a member of the National Honor Society.
