THIS SEASON: Ben Goncharenko enters his third season at USC.
2015: Goncharenko appeared in nine games as a sophomore... Colelcted 19 saves, averaging 6.9 saves and 6.9 goals-against per game... Had four saves in the second half in the NCAA Play-in win over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
2014: Goncharenko appeared in 12 games as a true freshman... Made 29 saves, averaging 5.3 saves per game and 5.3 goals-against per game... Set career high with six saves posted in a complete-game win over La Verne on Sept. 6... A member of the 2014 NCAA Tournament roster.
HIGH SCHOOL: Goncharenko played water polo and basketball and swam at La Serna High in Whittier, Calif.... Named league MVP and the 2013 Whittier Daily News All-Area Player of the Year as a senior... Also was a 2012 All-Area First Team honoree... As a senior, earned All-CIF first-team honors... As a junior, was an all-league first-teamer and named to the All-CIF second team... Won 2010 CIF championship as a freshman... Played club for International WPC.
PERSONAL: Goncharenko is majoring in GeoDesign and hopes to become a civil engineer... Parents are Troy and Ann... Has one brother, Luke, and one sister, Stenya... Enjoys surfing and playing guitar in his free time... Would like to eventually have surfed in every ocean in the world... Hopes to travel to Indonesia... Born Dec. 22, 1995.
