A 2020 Olympian with Australia, Blake Edwards is bound for his second Olympic Games as a member of the Aussie Sharks team competing in the Paris 2024 Games.
2017: Blake Edwards finished his three-year USC career ranked No. 9 all-time in career scoring at USC with 156 goals... Earned All-American Second Team honors and was named to the All-MPSF Second Team... Selected to the NCAA All-Tournament First Team... Scored two goals to help USC win the MPSF Tournament championship game... Scored 46 goals in his senior season... Scored in a team-high 25 games with 14 multiple-goal outings... Hit a new career high with seven goals scored vs Fresno Pacific on Sept. 29... An MPSF Scholar-Athlete, also earned ACWPC All-Academic honors..
2016: A team captain, Edwards was USC’s top scorer with 42 goals as a junior... Named a finalist for the Peter J. Cutino Award... Selected to All-America First Team and All-MPSF Second Team... Also earned NCAA All-Tournament First Team and MPSF All-Tournament Team honors... Scored in 22 games with nine multiple-goal outings... Matched his career high with a six-goal game vs. Concordia... Named MPSF Player of the Week on Oct. 17 after a five-goal game in a win over UC Santa Barbara, in which he also scored his 100th career goal... An MPSF Scholar-Athlete, also earned ACWPC All-Academic honors.
2015: In his first season as a Trojan, Edwards was USC’s top scorer with 68 goals and earned himself a spot on the All-American First Team... Also was selected to the NCAA All-Tournament First Team and MPSF All-Tournament Team... Earned All-MPSF First Team honors... Scored in 25 games with 18 multiple-goal outings, including setting his career high with six goals scored against Whittier on Sept. 12... His 68 goals scored is the sixth most scored by a Trojan in a single season.
NATIONAL TEAMS: Edwards is a member of the Australian National Team... Recently named to Australia's 2024 Olympic Team for Paris, he also was a 2020 Olympian with Australia... Was the top scorer at the 2020 World League Intercontinental Cup... Won bronze at 2019 FINA World League Super Final and silver at 2018 FINA World Cup... Was a team captain for Australia at the 2015 World University Games, finishing seventh... Also competed at the 2014 FINA World Cup... Also was Australia’s team captain at the 2013 World University Games... As a member of the Australian Junior National team, competed at the 2009 and 2010 Junior World Championships.
HIGH SCHOOL & CLUB: Edwards was named Melbourne High School’s Athlete of the Year in 2010... Also was selected as the Mooney Valley Leader Sports Star of the Year... His Melbourne High teams won four consecutive Victorian School Sports Association championships... Also won Trans Tasman Championships in 2008 and 2010... Played club for Melbourne Collegians, Victorian Tigers and Victorian Seals... Competing in the National Water Polo League Southern, was named to the 2011, 2012 and 2014 All-Star Teams... Was Victorian Seals’ top scorer and MVP in 2014 in leading the team to the 2014 NWPL finals.
PERSONAL: Edwards majored in communication and had plans to pursue a career in organizational management... Parents are Robert Edwards, Lyn Celotti and Tony Addley... Has five brothers, Anthony, Luke, Lachlan, Gabe and Josh... His younger brother Lachlan also is an Olympian and played for USC... Says playing alongside his four brothers, Anthony, Luke, Lachlan and Gabe with the Melbourne Collegians as his most thrilling sports experience... Enjoys spending time with his family at their beach house on the Great Ocean Road... Lists Michael Jordan as his biggest sports hero... Has always wanted to drive around Australia in an RV...
