Pair of Domagala Wins Leads USC To Win Over Hawaii

The USC men's swimming and diving team, led by a pair of wins by junior Michael Domagala, defeated Hawaii, 217-108.5, on Saturday (Oct. 17) after completing the second day of a two-day meet at the Uytengsu Aquatics Center.
The Trojans, who improved to 3-0 on the young season, opened the meet with a win in the 400y medley relay as senior Jeffrey Swanston, junior Steven Stumph, freshman Cash DeLoache and senior Morten Klarskov won in 3:22.29.
Domagala followed with a win in the 100y free in 45.25 while freshman Kyle Grissom was third (46.38).
Sophomore Jon Knox led a 1-2-3 finish in the 200y back with a 1:49.84 with sophomore Jason O'Brien second (1:53.73) and sophomore Scott Clausen third (1:55.30). Stumph won the 200y breast in 2:02.04, leading another USC sweep with sophomore Jonah Hu second (2:04.49) and freshman Billy Monjay third (2:07.70).
Sophomore Pawel Furtek won the 500y free in 4:26.89 with junior teammate Reed Malone second (4:31.34).
Senior Maclin Davis led USC in the 100y fly in second (50.95) with DeLoache third (51.32). Domagala next won his second race, claiming the 200y IM in 1:49.28, 0.19 off an NCAA ‘B' cut. Seniors Collin Pollard (332.70) and Deon Reid (323.15) then went 1-2 on the 3-meter springboard.
USC closed the meet with a win in the 200y free relay as junior David Morgan Jr., Grissom, Davis and Klarskov won in 1:23.49.
USC returns to action Friday (Oct. 23) when it hosts Cal State Bakersfield at 2 p.m.
