USC Women’s Tennis Defeats Arizona on Senior Day

The No. 41 USC women's tennis team defeated the Arizona Wildcats 4-0 today (April 13) at Mark's Stadium in Los Angeles. The Trojans sprinted through the match and finished in less than two hours. The win comes after the Senior Day celebration where the USC tennis program honored seniors and co-captains Madison Westby and Gabby Smith.
With the victory, the Trojans are now 12-7 overall and 5-3 in Pac-12 Conference play and are riding a three-match winning streak.
The Trojans kicked off doubles with a fiery start as Trojan duo Westby/Branstine defeated Corley/Thomas 6-0 on court three. USC then closed out doubles when Kulikov/Valdes beat Lewis/Van Aelst 6-3 to claim the doubles point. The Trojans entered singles with a one-point lead.
Madison Westby's fire remained ignited through singles as she blasted through her match to beat Camila Wesbrooks 6-4, 6-1 on court four. USC's Constance Branstine put another point on the board for the Trojans with her 6-2, 6-3 win over Marie Van Aelst on court five. Almost immediately after, Gabby Smith defeated Devin Chypyha 6-3, 6-1 on court one to clinch the match.
The Trojans return to Marks Stadium tomorrow at 12 p.m. to take on No. 33 Arizona State.
