Trojan Lacrosse Advances to Pac-12 Semifinal on 19-7 Win Over Arizona State

The Women of Troy went on a 12-0 run and held the Sun Devils scoreless for more than 38 minutes to seal the win
BOULDER, Colo. – The third-seeded and 20th-ranked USC lacrosse team (10-7) won its third straight game as the Trojans dispatched of sixth-seeded Arizona State (6-12) with a 19-7 score in the first round of the inaugural Pac-12 Championship tournament at Prentup Field on Thursday, April 26. The Women of Troy advance to the semifinals to face second-seeded No. 13 Stanford (13-4).

KEY PLAYERS
- Freshman midfielder Sophia Donovan scored a career-high six goals and picked up a ground ball. It was the most goals scored in a single game by a Trojan this season and the highest output since All-American Michaela Michael scored six against Oregon on April 7, 2017. Coincidentally, Donovan and Michael both prepped at the Menlo School in Atherton, Calif.
- Junior defender Jackie Gilbert snared 11 draw controls and added three ground balls and three caused turnovers.
- Junior attacker Emily Concialdi scored three goals to register her third-career hat trick.
- Senior defender Lydia Sutton had four ground balls and caused four turnovers.
- Three players scored two goals apiece for the Sun Devils including Maria Villanti, Kerri Clayton, and Kate Dougherty. Berkeley Bonneau had 13 saves in goal.
- The Sun Devils scored the first three goals of the game, but the Trojans responded to go on a 5-0 run to take its first lead when Donovan scored her second of the game for a 4-3 advantage.
- Both teams went back and forth for two goals apiece for tied scores at five-all and seven-all.
- Kelsey Huff, Donovan, and Concialdi scored the final three goals of the first half to put USC on top, 10-7, at the break.
- USC shot 7-for-13 from free position and produced seven assists when it didn't have a free run to goal.
- The Trojans' defense stepped up in the second half to take a 14-7 edge in ground balls and pitched a shutout that lasted 38:51 to close out a 19-7 win over the Sun Devils.
- USC will face second-seeded Stanford (13-4) in the Pac-12 semifinals set for 3 p.m. PT (4 p.m. MT) on Friday, April 27. The game will be shown live on Pac-12 Network, Pac-12 Los Angeles, and Pac-12 Mountain.
- USC improved to 3-0 all-time against Arizona State and improved to 4-5 all-time in games played in the state of Colorado.
- Fr. M Donovan's six goals made her the 22nd Trojan in program history to record at least one career hat trick.
- Sr. A Maeve McMahon had three assists for 16 this season, which puts her into ninth all-time at USC.
- Jr. M Concialdi scored her third-career hat trick.
- USC's 27 ground balls as a team were a season high.
- The Trojans won their 10th game to register double-digit wins for the fourth consecutive season.
