No. 1 USC Opens Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge In Third

Sophomore Amelia Garvey leads Trojans with par 71.
Sophomore Amelia Garvey carded an even 71 to lead the No. 1 USC women's golf team in the first round of the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge on Sunday (Feb. 3) at the Palos Verdes G.C.
USC, a three-time winner this fall and a four-time winner of the tournament, finished the first 18 holes at a combined 15-over 299, eight strokes back of first place UCLA in a tie for third.
Garvey finished with a par 71 to tie for fourth overall in the first round, opening with a birdie on 5 in the shotgun start and posting two more on 1 and 2.
Sophomore Jennifer Chang is tied for 17th at 4-over 75, sophomore Gabriela Ruffels is tied for 30th at 5-over 76 and junior Allisen Corpuz is tied for 40th at 6-over 77. Freshman Malia Nam is tied for 53rd at 7-over 78.
Action continues Monday and Tuesday.
