Corpuz, Abdulghany each match season-bests 69s.
Senior Allisen Corpuz and junior Alyaa Abdulghany matched season-bests with respective 2-under 69s as No. 4 USC posted the third-best second round on Monday (Feb. 10) at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge at Palos Verdes G.C.

The Trojans, trying to make a comeback for their fifth tournament title here, moved into a tie for fourth with Wake Forest at 8-over 576 (296-280) after their 4-under round. Duke moved into first at 4-under 564, the only team under par. UCLA is at 4-over while Texas is 6-over.

Junior Amelia Garvey is still USC's lone woman in the top 10, tied for ninth at par 142 (69-73). She was 1-under thru 12 before three late bogeys.

Corpuz and Abdulghany are tied for 21st with identical 3-over 145s (76-69). Corpuz went out at 2-over but used five back 9 birdies to get equal her best round of the season. Abdulghany was 2-under going out but her round was squared through 13 before finishing the final five holes at 2-under. Both players posted 69s in the final round of the Stanford Intercollegiate in fall play.

Junior Gabriela Ruffels is tied for 28th at 4-over 146 (75-71) after her par round while sophomore Malia Nam is now tied for 43rd at 7-over 149 (78-71) after her own even round.

Senior Aiko Leong, playing individually, is tied for 71st at 13-over 155 (81-74).
