USC T&F Set For Annual Dual Meet At UCLA Sunday

Trojan men are ranked No. and women No. 2
The USC Track and Field team will compete at the annual USC-UCLA Dual Meet to be held at Drake Stadium in Westwood, Calif.on May 4. The men's team enters the week ranked No. 1 and the women's team is ranked No. 2. The men's team's No. 1 ranking is its first since the USTFCCCA started compiling rankings in 2008. The meet is not being televised or streamed online.
DUAL MEET HISTORY: The USC men's team has a 47-43 all-time record in the Dual Meet and the USC women trail 18-22 in the all-time series, but have won 10 consecutive meets against the Bruins. USC has swept three of the last four Dual Meets overall and two of the last three at UCLA.The USC men's team won 99-60 and the women's team 85-74 at the 2024 Dual Meet
DUAL MEET TRENDS: The USC women's team has dominated the sprints the last 10 Dual Meets, winning 28 of the last 30 100m, 200m and 400m races. USC women have won the last 19 4x100m relays and 11 consecutive 4x400m relays. A Trojan male has won 20 of the last 21 100m races and 20 of 21 Dual Meet 200m races, including the last 12. A USC men's sprinter has also won 17 consecutive Dual Meet 400m races. The men's 4x100m relay team has won 11 consecutive races against the Bruins at the Dual Meet.
ROARING AROUND THE TRACK: USC's women's 4x100m relay team posted an NCAA-leading time of 42.36 to win the Mt. SAC Relays Elite competition, which is 0.38 seconds faster than the next team on the NCAA descending order list and over a second faster than the next-fastest Big Ten relay team. USC's time of 42.36 is the second-fastest in school history and currently ranks fourth in the world behind only three Team USA relay quartets. USC's relay time is the second-fastest pre-NCAA Championships 4x100m time since the beginning of the 2019 season (2023 Texas, 41.89 at the Big 12 Championships).
MEN'S 4X100M RELAY SETS SCHOOL RECORD: Travis Williams, Max Thomas, Garrett Kaalund and Edward Nketia won the men's 4x100m relay at the Texas A&M 44 Farms Team Invitational on April 12 with a school-record time of 38.41. The Trojans set the meet and facility record and broke the previous USC record of 38.49 set in 2022. Their time is currently ranked second in the country.
OOPS, DID WE FORGET SOMETHING?: USC's men's team has not run a 4x400m relay since placing eighth and earning All-America honors in the event with a time of 3:02.68 at the 2024 NCAA Championships last June. The Trojan relay unit will need to post a qualifying time for nationals at either the Dual Meet or at the Big Ten Championships.
THINGS ARE BRIGHT WITH WHYTE: USC sophomore Madison Whyte won both the 200m and 400m at the Texas A&M 44 Farms Team Invitational on April 11-12. Whyte won the 200m on April 11 with an NCAA-leading and second on the world list time of 22.32. That time set the meet and facility record, as well as moving her into a third-place tie on USC's all-time 200m list. The next day Whyte won the 400m dash and matched her PR of 50.91. That time ranks sixth on the NCAA descending order list. Both times are Big Ten leading times. Whyte also anchored USC's 4x400m relay which won on April 12 with a time of 3:29.61, which ranks second in the Big Ten this season and 11th in the country.

ERASMUS ERASES USC SHOT PUT RECORD: Freshman Ashley Erasmus set the USC freshman women's shot put record with her second throw of the season of 56-10 (17.32m), then broke the school record with a mark of 58-5.75 (17.82m) in her third attempt at the Trojan Invitational on March 22. Her shot put mark currently ranks 10th among all NCAA throwers. Erasmus has won all five shot put competitions she has competed in this season and ranks second among Big Ten throwers. Erasmus also had a PR of 176-11 (53.92m) in the discus throw at the Texas A&M 44 Farms Invitational on April 12 to move into a seventh-place tie on USC's all-time list in the event.
