February 21, 2026 | Women's Tennis
Trojans seek first win over Waves since 2015.
LOS ANGELES - The No. 6 ranked USC women's tennis team hits the road for a marquee match up on Sunday, facing No. 14Â Pepperdine at 12 p.m. PT in Malibu. The Trojans will look to snap a long drought against the Waves, having not defeated Pepperdine since 2015.
USC (7-2) enters the contest with momentum and one of the nation's most balanced lineups. The Trojans boast three ranked singles players in No. 32 Jana Hossam, No. 39 Emma Charney and No. 89 Eugenia Zozaya, along with the No. 14-ranked doubles duo of Dani Borruel and Lily Fairclough, who have anchored the top of the lineup this spring. In the most recent ITA computerized rankings, USC checked in at No. 6, it's highgest ranking since 2024.Â
Pepperdine (3-2) will face UCLA on Friday ahead of Sunday's showdown, which presents one of USC's toughest tests of the season. The Waves are led by No. 8-ranked Anastasiia Grechkina and No. 57 Ziva Falkner in singles play, while Falkner teams with Sonja Zhiyenbayeva as the nation's No. 48 doubles pair. As a team, Pepperdine sits at No. 14 nationally and has consistently proven to be a formidable opponent at home.
With both programs ranked inside the top 15, Sunday's match up carries significant early-season implications. For the Trojans, it's an opportunity not only to secure a statement road win, but to reclaim momentum in a rivalry that has tilted in Pepperdine's favor over the past decade.Â
