No. 22 USC Women’s Rowing Completes the San Diego Crew Classic

The Trojans’ Third Varsity Eight placed second in the finals to highlight the weekend.
SAN DIEGO, Calif. — Highlighted by the Third Varsity Eight's runner-up finish, two boats from the No. 22 USC Women's Rowing Team wrapped up the San Diego Crew Classic on Sunday, March 29.
In one of the biggest spring regattas on the West Coast, USC's Third Varsity Eight took second to UCLA by 1.9 seconds in the Women's Collegiate Novice 8+ race after USC won a close race in the prelims. Later in the day, the freshman-heavy squad took sixth in the Women's Collegiate Varsity B 4+ race, which Washington won in an open-water victory.
WOMEN'S COLLEGIATE NOVICE 8+ LAUREL KORHOLZ PERPETUAL TROPHY
After winning the prelims in 7:43.93 with a 1.71-second margin, the finals were an equally close affair between USC and UCLA. However, the Bruins prevailed in the finals with a 1.93-second win over the Trojans, who finished in a time of 7:28.58. The final was a two-boat race for the entire way, as USC finished 20 seconds ahead of third-place Wisconsin.
WOMEN'S COLLEGIATE B 4+ FINAL
USC placed sixth in Saturday's prelims with a time of 8:43.66. The finals went chalk with the Trojans taking sixth place in a time of 8:16.95 behind a pair of UCLA boats, but ahead of Sacramento State by over 30 seconds.
