USC Women’s Rowing Finishes the Big Ten Invite

The Second Varsity Eight picked up another win for the Trojans on Sunday.
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Highlighted by the Second Varsity Eight's win over UCLA, the USC Women's Rowing team wrapped up the Big Ten Invite at Lake Natoma in Sacramento, Calif. on Sunday, April 19.
The final day of the Big Ten Invite had three close battles between the Trojans and the Bruins in the Second Varsity Eight, Varsity Four and Second Varsity Four. However, USC had runner-up finishes in the fours, with the Varsity Four finishing in 7:29.22 and the Second Varsity Four finishing in 7:35.20.
Then the Second Varsity Eight delivered with a thrilling three-second win over the Bruins. USC jumped out early and maintained a four-seat lead over UCLA in the first half of the race before increasing its rate after the one-kilometer mark. While the Bruins made a late push in the last 500 meters, the Trojans fended off their rivals in the sprint for a seven-seat victory in 6:39.91.
In the final race of the regatta for USC, the Third Varsity Eight took third place in their flight with a time of 7:09.32.
