No. 2 USC Women’s Golf Begins Play at the NCAA Championships
May 21, 2026 | Women's Golf
The Trojans are making their 28th-consecutive NCAA Championship appearance this week.
CARLSBAD, Calif. — After one of the most successful seasons in recent memory, the No. 2 USC Women's Golf Team begins play at the 2026 NCAA Women's Golf Championship from May 22-27.
For the third consecutive year, the national championships will be played at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa at the par-72, 6,330-yard course. Making their 28th consecutive NCAA Championship appearance, the Women of Troy aim to win their fourth team title and the program's first since 2013. Individually, USC's players will try to become the fifth individual national champion in program history — a feat the Trojans have not seen since 2014.
The 30 teams and six individual qualifiers will play 18 holes of stroke play every day from May 22-24 before the first cut is made. Then the top 15 teams and the top nine individuals not on an advancing team will play 18 more holes of stroke play on May 25 to determine the national individual champion and the top eight teams for match play.
From there, the final eight teams will play the match play quarterfinals and semifinals on May 26 before the national championship match will be held on May 27.
The first three days will be livestreamed via Babygrande Golf, which requires a subscription. The GOLF Channel will provide live coverage for the final round of stroke play, plus all three rounds of match play. All pertinent links can be found on ncaa.com or the women's golf team's schedule page on usctrojans.com.
Carrying a seven-tournament win streak into NCAAs, the Trojans are one of the favorites to win the national championship after putting together a historic regular season.
The team's eight wins are the most since the team won eight titles during Head Coach Justin Silverstein's debut season in 2018. USC is one of two schools to have multiple ANNIKA Award finalists, with sophomore Jasmine Koo and senior Catherine Park. Individually, sophomore Kylie Chong, Koo and Park have won individual titles at six events, led by Koo's four wins this year that made her USC's wins leader with eight career victories. Park is currently ranked third in career wins with five, while Kylie Chong won her first two career titles this season, most recently at USC's GameAbove Invitational.
Yet the Trojans are not a top-heavy team: All five players in the lineup have led the Trojans during the spring season. Additionally, all six players — including substitute Sarah Hammett — have multiple top-10 finishes this year. Elise Lee, a transfer from Northwestern, most recently led the Trojans with a shared second-place finish at the NCAA Ann Arbor Regional to help USC win its national-leading 16th regional title. And despite missing the fall season recovering from elbow surgery, Bailey Shoemaker is having her best collegiate golf season by finishing in the top 25 in all eight tournaments this year and six top-10 finishes.
The Trojans are looking to improve upon last year's fifth-place finish in stroke play and quarterfinal appearance in match play. USC has advanced to match play in all but one season since the match play format was adopted in 2015. Under the current format, the Trojans have made five semifinal appearances and one match-play finals appearance in 2023.
All told, USC has won three team titles and four Trojans have won individual national titles. After winning the program's first title in 2003, the Trojans won two more national championships over the next decade in 2008 and 2013. USC has swept the national titles twice: first in 2003 (Mikaela Parmlid) and most recently in 2013 (Annie Park). The last time a Trojan won the national title was in 2014, when Doris Chen accomplished that feat.
