LOS ANGELES – The USC women's soccer team dropped a tough decision at home to Saint Mary's on Sunday afternoon, falling 1-0 to the Gaels after the visitors scored on a late counterattack.

USC outshot Saint Mary's 19-5 and put 12 shots on target, but couldn't come up with a goal as the Trojans fell to 1-3-1 with the loss. The Gaels moved to 3-0-2.

Ashlyn Vaughn scored in the 76^th minute for Saint Mary's as Lexi Chatteron intercepted a ball in the midfield, sent it ahead to Penelope Correa, who found Vaughn in behind the Trojan defense.

USC had multiple chances in both halves and even came close to an equalizer in the final minute as Jaiden Rodriguez got a shot off from just outside the box that went over the crossbar. 14 of the Trojans' 19 shots came in the second half.
