THIS SEASON: 2006 senior Tyler Storie, a co-captain, is a reliable distance freestyler and a hard worker striving hard to make his NCAA debut in 2006.
2005: As a 2005 junior, Storie was 11th in the 1650y free (15:29.77), 12th in the 400y IM (3:59.92) and 21st in the 500y free (4:34.23) ... The third fastest miler on the Trojan squad behind Olympians Larsen Jensen and Ous Mellouli, Storie raced twice at the 2005 U.S. World Championships Trials. He just missed the final of the 800m free, finishing ninth in 8:22.29 and he was 21st in the 1500m free (16:04.11) ... At the 2005 U.S. Summer Nationals, Storie was 21st in the 1500m free (15:51.14), 28th in the 800m free (8:18.14) and 53rd in the 400m free (4:04.05) ... He was given the Josh Ilika Spirit Award at the 2005 team banquet.
2004: Storie swam in three events at the 2004 Pac-10 Championships, taking ninth in the 1650y free (15:28.59), 14th in 500y free (4:31.65) and 15th in the 400y IM (3:57.86). He competed at the 2004 U.S. Olympic Trials, finishing 28th in the 1500m free.
2003: Storie raced in three events at the 2003 Pac-10s, taking ninth in the 1650y free (15:35.30), 15th in the 500y free (4:31.84) and 16th in the 400y IM (4:01.24) ... At the 2003 U.S. Nationals, he was 30th in the 1500m free (16:18.59) and tied for 60th in the 400m free (4:11.93).
HIGH SCHOOL: An All-American at Corvallis (Ore.) High, Storie won state titles in the 500y free in 2001-02 and won district titles in the 200y IM and the 500y free each year in school ... He was team captain of the men[apos]s U.S. junior national team and swam the 1500m ... He was 13th in the 800m free at the 2001 Spring Nationals and was 10th in the 1500m free at the 2002 Spring Nationals ... He competed at the 2000 U.S. Olympic Trials in the 1500m free ... He ran for three years on the cross country team ... He was his school[apos]s Student Body President and was Junior Class President.
PERSONAL: His birthday is March 11, 1984 ... He plans to major in kinesiology ... His mother Judy swam at Oregon State.
