High School: Matheson prepped at Sunrise High School, where was a four-time Arizona DII State Championships finalist … At the 2021 Arizona Senior State Championships, Matheson won the men’s 200y back (1:49.77) and was seventh in the 100y fly (49.84) … In July 2021, he was a three-time finalist at the Speedo Sectionals (Austin, TX), finishing second in the 100 L free (51.19), 200 L free (1:51.72) and 100 L fly (54.85) … Two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American … Owns six Junior National Standards

At the NCAA Championships, finished 26th in the 1650-yard Freestyle (15:04.43), 27th in the 500-yard Freestyle (4:16.34) and 32nd in the 400-yard IM (3:47.84)

At the Pac-12’s, finished top-five in two different events as Matheson claimed 4th in the 1650-yard Freestyle (14:51.59) and 5th in the 500-yard Freestyle (4:15.77/4:14.87), while also finishing 11th in the 400-yard IM (3:53.61/3:50.10)
