Bio
THIS YEAR:
Junior Andre De Grasse begins his first season as a sprinter for the USC track and field program. The Canadian sprinter transferred to USC from Coffeyville Community College.
BEFORE USC:
De Grasse attended Coffeyville Community College in Coffeyville, Kan. for two seasons (2013-14), where he won five NJCAA titles. In 2014 he won the 60m (6.71) and 200m (21.01) indoor titles and the 200m (20.38) outdoor title with a PR. He also won the 55m (6.21) indoors and the 100m (9.96w) outdoors in 2013. In the summer of 2014 he place second in the 100m (10.41) and fourth in the 200m (21.05) at the Canadian Track & Field Championships held in Moncton, New Brunswick. Her also won the 100m dash with a season-best wind-aided time of 10.03 (+4.0) at the Kansas Relays in April. De Grasse was the Canadian junior champion over the 100m and 200m distances and represented Canada at the 2013 Pan-Am Junior Championships, earning a silver in the 100m and a bronze in the 200m.
HIGH SCHOOL:
He graduated in 2012 from Milliken Mills High in Markham, Ontario, Canada.
PERSONAL:
Andre was born on November 10, 1994 in Scarborough, Ontario...His mother is Beverley De Grasse and his father is Alex Waithe...Andre has three siblings, Julian, Alexandra and Dantee...He is pursuing a major in Sociology in the Dornsife School of Letters, Arts and Sciences...He volunteered at youth recreational centers in the greater Toronto area as a tutor and referee...His hobbies include playing basketball and watching movies...Lists his favorite movie as Training Day and his favorite actors as Denzel Washington and Will Smith...Says his favorite foods are rice and pea with oxtail, jerk chicken and roti and curry chicken...Would like to run professionally after graduation.
