No. 1 USC Tied For Lead After Pac-12 Preview First Round

USC, seeking fourth straight win, led by Ruffels 4-under 69.
Sophomore Gabriela Ruffels fired a 4-under 69 while sophomore Amelia Garvey and freshman Malia Nam were also both under par to lead the No. 1 USC women's golf team to a share of first after the first round of the Pac-12 Preview at the Nanea G.C. in Kailua Kona, Hawaii, on Monday (Nov. 5).
The Trojans, seeking their fourth win in a row for the first time since 2014, finished a combined 3-under 289 on the par 73 course, tied with Oregon and California and one stroke ahead of Colorado, two ahead of Stanford.
Ruffels, a one-time winner this year, is tied for second overall, two off the lead, after her third round under 70 this year. She posted six birdies on the day, including four between the 12th and 18th holes.
Garvey is tied for ninth at 2-under 71 after her six-birdie day, including one that started the round and one that finished it. Nam is tied for 12th at 1-under 72, coming back with three birdies over her final six holes.
Sophomore Jennifer Chang is tied for 43rd at 4-over 77 while sophomore Alyaa Abdulghany, who started her round with 10 straight pars, is tied for 48th at 5-over 78.
The tournament continues Tuesday and Wednesday.
