USC Women's Tennis Falls to Washington State 4-1

The No. 41 USC women's tennis team lost to No. 39 Washington State 4-1 today (March 23) at Marks Tennis Stadium. This was the first time in program history that Washington State has defeated USC. The Trojans record against the Cougars is now 24-1 all-time since their series began in 1994.
With the loss, the Trojans are now 8-6 on the season and 1-3 in Pac-12 conference play.
The Cougars scored first out of the gate as Yusupova/Mylonas defeated USC's Smith/Van Alphen 6-2 on court two. Washington State's Misovska/Bayerlova closed out doubles with a 6-3 victory on court three over Trojan duo Branstine/Westby.
USC entered singles with a one-point deficit.
The Cougars continued to play with that doubles momentum as Washington State's Aneta Miksovska notched another point on the board with a win over USC's Alexa Corcoleotes 6-4 ,6-1 on court five. Trojan Madison Westby scored the first USC point of the day with her victory over Cougar Tiffany Mylonas 6-4, 6-1 on court three. USC now trailed 1-2 overall.
Shortly after Westby closed out her match, USC's No. 57 Gabby Smith fell to Washington State's No. 43 Michaela Bayerlova 6-3, 6-3 on court one.
The Cougars would have the final word as Washington State's Melisa Ates defeated USC's Sydney Van Alphen 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 on court six to close out the match.
USC will return to Marks Stadium tomorrow at 12 p.m. to take on the No. 47 Washington Huskies.
