Women’s 4x100m Relay, Dunn In Shot Put & Levan In 200m Win Events At Mt. SAC

Levan runs personal bests in 100m and 200m, Five Trojans place third in events
The women's 4x100m relay, Shaiquan Dunn in the men's shot put and Jazonte Levan in the men's 200m all won to lead the Trojans at the Mt. SAC Relays being held at Hilmer Lodge Stadium in Walnut, Calif. today (April 18). The Trojans also had five third-place finishes during the day's action.
Graduate transfer Jake Heydon had a season-best mark of 202-00 (61.58m) to place fifth in the men's College/Open javelin throw. It was Heydon's best throw since the 2022 season.
The USC track and field team will be back in action tomorrow at the Mt. SAC Relays beginning at 9 a.m. with the women's hammer throw competition.
- The women's 4x100m "B" team got the day's action started for USC by winning the College/Open section with a time of 43.82. USC ran a team of freshman Olivia Pace, freshman Mia Brahe-Pedersen, junior Christine M. Mallard and freshman Tiana Eyakpobeyan. The group's time ranks 17th in the country and third best by a USC quartet this season.
- The freshman Dunn won the men's College/Open shot put with a mark of 58-2.00 (17.73m). He had that mark in the first round and matched it in the third round. Fellow freshman Kaden Garland placed seventh with a best mark of 55-2.25 (16.82m). He entered the finals in ninth, moved to eighth in the fourth round and into seventh during the fifth round.
- The freshman Levan won the men's College/Open 200m dash with a PR of 20.56 (+1.2). His time moved him to tied for 13th on the NCAA descending order list. There were 62 runners in 10 heats. Junior Jaelen Knox had a time of 21.11 (+0.7) to place second in his heat and seventh overall.
- Brahe-Pedersen came back to place third in the women's College/Open 100m dash with a time of 11.51 (+1.2). There were 52 runners in the women's C/O 100m dash.
- Dunn came back to place third in the men's College/Open discus throw competition with a mark of 177-8 (54.16m).
- Graduate student Jack Carter ran a PR of 1:50.93 to place third in the men's College/Open 800m race.
- Levan placed third in the men's College/Open 100m dash with a PR of 10.47 (+0.4).
- Junior transfer Karyssa Owens placed third in the women's College/Open discus throw competition with a best mark of 169-11 (51.81m).
- Sophomore Jada Gatlin saved her best jump for last in the women's College/Open triple jump and placed fifth with a personal-best leap of 40-11.75/12.49m (+0.0). She had to land a legal jump in round three just to make it to the finals and did with a jump of 39-7.25/12.12 (+0.0)m to move into eighth place and earn three more jumps.
- Graduate transfer Roberto Ruelas placed sixth in the men's College/Open 1500m race with a time of 3:56.11.
- Redshirt junior Jacqueline Duarte placed ninth in the women's Elite 1500m race with a PR of 4:37.94, 0.07 seconds out of eighth. Duarte bettered her previous career-best time of 4:39.83 set at the 2023 Mt. SAC Relays by nearly two seconds.
