
USC Women’s Golf Rises Six Spots After National Championships’ Day Two

CARLSBAD, Calif. – USC women's golf rose on its second day at the National Championships with a one-under par round, leading it to a three-over par overall score. The Trojans sit tied for 4th out of 30 teams after round two on Saturday, May 17, at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa.
The Trojans counted 71-71-72-73 (287) as they tally a 579 (+3, 292 + 287) after two rounds of work. USC is three strokes ahead of the final cut as it moves into the final two rounds.
Junior Catherine Park remains the overall leader for the Women of Troy in a tie for third place, after posting an even-par second round to stay at four-under par for the tournament. Park opened the round continuing where she left off as she secured a birdie on hole No. 1. The junior would stay steady through the rest of the round as she was one-over par with three bogeys and two birdies heading into the hole No. 18. Park took advantage of the the par five on No. 18, as she birdied that to secure her 24th round of par or better this season – breaking her own record (23; 2024) for most in program history in a single season. Park is four-under par on par fives for the tournament, as she has faced eight in her first two rounds.
Freshman Jasmine Koo and senior Xin (Cindy) Kou were first on the day, as they each posted a 71 (-1). Kou went up 57 and Koo went up 27 spots on the leaderboard, as the senior is tied for 80th at six-over par and the freshman is tied for 19th at even-par.
A string of successful holes in the back half of the round propelled Koo's round. The freshman was two-over par on the front nine, but overcame that deficit with three birdies – holes No. 14, 16 and 17. Kou did the opposite with more success on the front nine, as she recorded a 34 (-2), before going over par on the back nine – 37 (+1).
Freshman Kylie Chong was the afternoon's final counting score, adding one-over par round to her two-over par total. Chong is tied for 33rd in the field, as her second round was filled with three bogeys and two birdies.
Sophomore Bailey Shoemaker rounded out the lineup with a three-over par round two, as she is tied for 117th at nine-over par for the tournament.
The Trojans return to the course for the NCAA Championships third round starting tomorrow at 6:56 a.m. in Carlsbad, Calif., at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa.
