USC’s Catherine Park Tied for Fourth After Round Three at NCAA Championships
May 18, 2025 | Women's Golf
CARLSBAD, Calif. – USC women's golf junior Catherine Park trails the leader by three strokes after round three, as she is six under par overall. The Trojans continue to hold their position well above the first cut line, as they are 4th out of the 30 teams after the third day on Sunday, May 18, at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa.
As the field dwindles to 15, USC remains positioned to continue playing through Monday's final round, as it is seven strokes ahead of the final cut to advance to match play (top eight). The Trojans in the third round counted 70-71-72-72 (285) and are now six-over par (292 + 287 + 285 = 864) as they head into the final round of stroke play. No. 1 Stanford leads the tournament at 23-under par.
Junior Catherine Park posted the best round on the day at two-under par and remains the overall leader for the squad as she is tied for 4th at six-under par. This is Park's 11th round at par or better in the past 12 rounds, as she owns the record for most rounds of par or better for a season with 25. Park set the record last season with 23. The junior produced a near identical round on both sides of the course, as she recorded two birdies and one bogey on each side, respectively.
Heading into the final round, Park is searching to post a different result than her freshman year at the 2023 NCAA Championships, as she finished runner-up at Grayhawk G.C.
Freshman Jasmine Koo was the other Trojan under par for the round, carding a 71 (-1). Koo's only blemish came on hole No. 11, when she double bogeyed the par four. During the third day, Koo posted three birdies with no bogeys. The freshman is one under par overall and tied for 17th on the leaderboard.
Senior Xin (Cindy) Kou had the best start of the afternoon, as she led the Trojans after nine holes and finished the back nine two-under par. Kou ended her round even-par, after bogeying three holes and birding one on the front nine. The senior is six over par after three rounds, tying her for 55th.
Sophomore Bailey Shoemaker suffered a similar fate as her senior counterpart, as Shoemaker also finished the first nine two-under par. Shoemaker recorded four birdies on the back nine with two bogeys, and had a double bogey, one bogey, and one birdie on the front side of the course. The sophomore is now nine-over par and tied for 86th in the field.
Freshman Kylie Chong was the non-counting score for the Women of Troy as she went eight-over par for the day, putting her 10-over par overall and tying her for 91st.
The Trojans return to the course for the NCAA Championships fourth round starting tomorrow at 11:25 a.m. in Carlsbad, Calif., at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa.
