No. 2 USC Women’s Golf in Second Place at the NCAA Championships
May 23, 2026 | Women's Golf
The Trojans are one of three teams below par after a windy second round.
CARLSBAD, Calif. — After a windy afternoon of play, the No. 2 USC Women's Golf team is in second place and is one of three teams below par after the second round of the 2026 NCAA Championships, held at The Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif. on Saturday, May 23.
Teeing off at the first tee time of the day, USC avoided strong winds later in the afternoon that caused the field to struggle at the par-72, 6,271-yard course. Although the Trojans posted another round below par with a 286 (-2), the No. 1 Stanford Cardinal fired another 282 (-6) to go ahead by three strokes with a 564 (-12).
USC's 567 (-9) total is two strokes ahead of third-place No. 21 Oklahoma State and well clear of the 15th-place cutline that will occur tomorrow. After Sunday's round, the top 15 teams and the top nine players on non-advancing teams will advance to the final round of stroke play on Monday, May 25.
"Even though the greens were a bit softer today, this course showed a little more bite," Head Coach Justin Silverstein said. "It still rewarded well-executed shots while penalizing the poor ones. Our group was able to hang in there early in the round and close pretty well. We will need to turn up our discipline tomorrow in order to continue playing well."
Senior Catherine Park continues to lead the way with a two-round total of 141 (-3), which is tied for 12th after she fired a 71 (-1) on Saturday. Park remained at par until she birdied the par-4 No. 7, but found trouble with a bogey on the par-4 No. 11 on the back side. However, she brought her score under par with a birdie on the par-5 No. 18 to remain in the top 15. Park is three strokes behind Texas' Farah O'Keefe, Ole Miss' Kajsalotta Svarvar and Stanford's Meja Örtengren, who are tied for the lead at -6.
Sophomore Jasmine Koo moved into a tie for 16th place after firing her second consecutive 71 (-1), making her one of just two Trojans with multiple rounds under par. Koo's second round started strong with two birdies in the first four holes, but she found trouble with a bogey on the par-4 No. 5. After making the turn, she birdied the par-5 No. 10, but the back side was rocky for the sophomore with two bogeys and two birdies in the span of five holes. Her 142 (-2) total is in a five-way tie for 16th place.
Junior Bailey Shoemaker is also tied for 16th with a 142 (-2) total after firing an even-par 72 on Saturday. Shoemaker had just one birdie and one bogey in the second round on the front side before she stayed at par for the last 12 holes.
Sophomore Kylie Chong slid back into a tie for 38th place with a 145 (+1) total after firing a 75 (+3) on Saturday. She had two birdies, three bogeys and one double-bogey on the par-3 No. 16.
Rounding out the Trojans, sophomore Elise Lee improved in her second-round 72 (E) to move up into a tie for 109th place with a 150 (+6) total.
USC begins the third round at 6:30 a.m. PT tomorrow. The round will be livestreamed via Babygrande Golf, which requires a subscription. A link to the live stream and live results can be found on the women's golf team's schedule page on usctrojans.com.
