Bio
THIS YEAR: Jemison transfers to USC from UC Riverside with eligibility in one indoor and one outdoor season. She was named the Big West Track and Field Athlete of the Week three times.
BEFORE USC: 2017: She competed in one indoor meet, the Lumberjack Team Challenge on Jan. 21 and placed first in the shot put with a mark of 52-8.25 (16.06m) and seventh in the weight throw with a mark of 53-0.75 (16.17m). She missed the rest of the track season with an injury. 2016: She set the UC Riverside school record in the shot put with a PR of 56-11.50 (17.36m) in winning the Big West title on May 14. She took 25th in the shot put with a mark of 50-11 (15.52m) at the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds. She set an indoor PR of 57-4.25 (17.48m), placing sixth in the weight throw at the Mountain T’s Invitational an Multis…she also won the shot put at the same meet with a mark of 55-3.50 (16.85m). She earned second-team Indoor All-America honors in the shot put by placing 14th with a mark of 51-11.75 (15.84m) at the NCAA Indoor Championships. She placed 20th in the shot put with a mark of 52-11.50 (16.14m) at the 2016 Olympic Trials. 2015: She had a best shot put of 54-3.25 (16.54m) in placing 10th at the Triton Invitational on April 30. She finished second in the shot put with a mark of 51-1 (15.57m) at the Big West T&F Championships on May 15. 2014: Missed the 2014 season due to injury. 2013: Had a discus throw PR of 160-4 (48.86m) to win at the Triton Invitational on April 27. Posted a hammer throw PR of 144-11 (44.17m) at the UC Irvine Spring Break Classic on March 23. She finished fourth in the shot put (47-9.75) and eighth in the discus throw (143-11) at the Big West Championships.
HIGH SCHOOL: Jemison graduated from Carlsbad High in Carlsbad, Calif. in 2012. She was the 2011 state champion in the shot put. Her top high school shot put mark was 44-7 and her top discus throw was 148-11. She also played basketball and was the team MVP in 2012. She was a member of the Black Student Union.
PERSONAL: Breana was born on December 12, 1993 in Oceanside, Calif…Her parents are Mary and Bryant Jemison and she has two brothers, Byron and Bryant…Her hobbies include surfing, trying new foods and traveling…Morgan Freeman is her favorite actor, Kendrick Lamar her favorite musician and Goonies her favorite movie…Her favorite foods are wings and stir fry…List Serena Williams as her sports hero because "she manifests every aspect of an athlete that understands the grind"…Her goals after USC include throwing professionally and becoming a Police Chief…She is at USC in the graduate program, Mater of Studies in Law.
