Bio
THIS YEAR: Sophomore Zaria Francis begins her second season competing in the sprints for USC.
2017: Francis placed second in the 100m with a season-best wind-aided time of 11.45 (3.0w) and ran 24.22 (+1.7) to finish seventh in the 200m at the USC-UCLA Dual Meet on April 30. She ran 11.60 (+1.9) in the 100m preliminary round at the Pac-12 Championships to advance to the finals where she placed seventh with a time of 11.65 (+1.4). She ran 11.49 (+3.8w) in the 100m at the NCAA West Prelims to finish 20th. She had a wind-legal best time of 11.50 (+1.1) in the 100m preliminary rounds at the USA Junior T&F Championsphis and placed seventh in the finals with a time of 11.73 (-1.5) on June 23.
HIGH SCHOOL: Francis graduated from Rio Mesa HS in Oxnard, Calif. in 2016. She won the 100m and 200m CIF state titles in 2015, going 11.31 in the 100m and running a PR of 23.09 in the 200m which was the third-fastest time by a high schooler. As a junior, she was third in the 100m (11.55) and fourth in the 200m (23.71w).
PERSONAL: Zaria was born on March 22, 1998...Her parents are Earl and Kim Francis...She has two brothers and three sisters...Lists her sports heroes as Florence Griffith Joyner and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce...Enjoys cooking in her spare time...Is a Health and Human Sciences major at USC.
CAREER BESTS: 100m - 11.31 200m - 23.09
