BREAKDOWN:
Garrett Jackson is a 6-foot-7, 225-pound sophomore forward who is a talented, hard-working player whose versatility allows him to be utilized at several positions both offensively and defensively for the Trojans. He made great improvement during his freshman season and is expected to have a key role this season.
2010-11:
Came off the bench in 33 of USC[apos]s 34 games and averaged 3.2 points and 1.7 rebounds. Played 10 or more minutes 17 times, with a season-high 27 minutes played at Arizona State on Jan. 27. Scored a season-high 12 points in 17 minutes on 6-for-7 shooting vs. Bradley on Nov. 20. Scored 10 points vs. New Mexico State on Nov. 21. Had a season-best six rebounds and scored eight points in 16 minutes vs. California on Jan. 22. In the seven games he logged more than 15 minutes, he averaged 7.9 points and hit 60 percent of his shots from the field (24-for-40). Jackson made 26 of his first 36 shots as a collegian (72.2 percent). For the season, hit 55.6 percent from the field and 45.0 percent from three-point range.
HIGH SCHOOL:
Jackson averaged 18.6 points, 8.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.7 steals and made 52.2 percent of his shots in leading Westview High to the championship game of the Oregon Class 6A division. Jackson[apos]s outstanding senior season earned him selection as the Gatorade Oregon Boys Basketball Player of the Year. It also earned him selection to the Long Beach Press Telegram[apos]s Best in the West second team. He had 13 double-doubles in 29 games, with 20 games of at least eight rebounds and 14 games of 20 or more points. He scored a season-high 26 points in wins over Prairie and Oregon City. Jackson also made 77.2 percent of his free throw attempts (139-for-180). As a junior he averaged 19.3 points, 8.7 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.8 steals and 1.0 blocks per game. He was a two-time Metro League Player of the Year and a two-time first-team selection on The Oregonian Class 6A All-State Team. Jackson also maintained a 3.0 weighted grade-point average and was named the Les Schwab/KUIK Student Athlete of the Week for basketball on Dec. 29, 2009 as well as earning the OHSU/KOIN Student Athlete of the month award during the 2008-09 season. He was a McDonald[apos]s All-American Nominee for 2009-10 and awarded the North Team MVP Award from the Les Schwab Oregon North/South All-Star Game played on June 19, 2010. Was touted as the No. 1 small forward to sign with a Pac-10 team by Rivals.com on Nov. 18, 2009 and was ranked as the No. 25 small forward in the 2010 class by Scout.com and No. 82 overall by ESPNU.
