THIS YEAR: Sophomore Brayden Borquez is in his second season as a sprinter and hurdler on the USC track and field team.
2020: Borquez had a season-best time of 48.21 in the 400m to place 14th at the MPSF Championships. He had a time of 21.63 (+0.9) to take eighth in the 200m and a time of 48.79 to finish fourth in the 400m at the Beach Opener, before the outdoor season was shutdown due to COVID-19.
HIGH SCHOOL: Borquez is a 2019 graduate of Harvard-Westlake HS in Los Angeles, Calif. He has PRs of 10.73 in the 100m, 21.21 in the 200m, 46.67 in the 400m and 37.24 in the 300m hurdles. Borquez finished second in the 400m with a time of 46.83 at the 2019 California state meet. He was a six-time CIF Champion, eight-time Mission League Champion and set 11 Harvard-Westlake records. He was the 2018 Harvard-Westlake Male Breakout Athlete of the Year and in 2019 was given the Lee Carlsen Award as the top senior male athlete. He was also a team captain as senior.
PERSONAL: Brayden was born on February 3, 2001...His parents are Elane and Anthony Borquez and his has one sibling, Beckham...His father attended USC and was a member of the track team in the early 1990s....Brayden's hobbies include music, travel and culinary arts...His favorite actor is Jared Leto and his favorite musicians are Blink 182, Chris Lake, Travis Scott and Lil Skies...His favorite foods are Korean barbeque and sushi...Lists USC alum and former H-W coach Felix Sanchez as his sports hero, as he runs with passion and purpose and is an Olympic legend...After graduation would like to experience a new culture to broaden his perspective or launch an entrepreneurial venture which solves a global problem...He is a Business Administration major at USC.
