Bio
THIS YEAR: Sophomore Jatana Folston is in her second season as a sprinter on the USC track and field team.
2020: She competed at one indoor meet and posted a time of 58.31 in the 400m at the MLK Invitational. Folston had a time of 2:17.86 to finish ninth in the 800m at the Beach Opener in the only outdoor meet before the season was shut down due to COVID-19.
HIGH SCHOOL: Folston is a 2019 graduate from Cocoa High in Cocoa, Fla. She has personal bests of 53.04 in the 400m, 2:10 in the 800m and 24.13 in the 200m. Won the Florida 2A title in the 400m as a junior and placed second in the state meet as a senior. She ran her PR of 53.04 in placing third in the 400m at the 2018 New Balance Nationals. Won the 400m gold medal with a time of 53.71 at the 2018 AAU Junior Olympics. Also in 2018, she set the Florida state record time of 1:32.04 in the 600m. She was an Honor Society student and a member of the Black Students Association.
PERSONAL: Jatana was born on September 27, 2001 in Miami, Fla...Her parents are Tattala Bowie and James Folston and she has four siblings, Jamesia, James, Jazzmine and Tarean...Her hobbies include watching Netflix, going to the mall, watching movies listening to music and being creative...Her favorite actress is Angelina Jolie and favorite musical artists are Lil Durk, Rihanna and Billie Eilish...Lists Allyson Felix as her sports hero because she fights for what is fair for a professional woman athlete...Someday would like to travel to Paris, Brazil and The Bahamas...She is a Civil Engineering major at USC.
