THIS YEAR: Freshman Sam Sloan is in his first season as a middle distance runner on the USC track and field team.
HIGH SCHOOL: Sloan is a 2019 graduate of Highland Park HS in Dallas, Texas. He has an 800m PR of 1:57.05 and a 400m best of 49.6. He was the 2019 UIL 5A District 11 800m champion and finished third at the 2019 UIL 5A Region 2 championships in the 800m with a time of 1:58.12. He was also a three-time district champion as part of Highland Park's 4x40m relay team. He qualified for the Texas Relays all four years. He also played on the Highland Park football team which was a 2-time state champion, going 16-0 his senior year. He maintained a 4.4 GPA in high school and was Academic All-State in track and field all four years.
PERSONAL: Sam was born on January 29, 2001 in New York, N.Y..His parents are Vanessa and Stephen Sloan and he has two younger brothers, Luke and Max and one older sister, Grace....His hobbies including following football, soccer and traveling...His favorite football team is the Dallas Cowboys and his favorite soccer team is Manchester City...He lists his sports hero as distance runner Eliud Kipchoge for his mental toughness...His favorite foods are pasta and paella...Lists Kawhi Leonard as his favored basketball player...Someday would like to travel to Morocco, South Africa and India...He is a Business Administration major and Political Science minor at USC.
