Bio
CAREER: In his 4-year (2018-21) career at Colorado, he had 87 tackles, including 3 for losses (with 2 sacks), 13 deflections, a fumble recovery and 2 interceptions while appearing in 25 games (with 19 starts).
2022: Blackmon, who transferred to USC in the spring of 2022 from Colorado, will look to immediately contribute to the defensive back room as a redshirt senior in 2022.
COLORADO: He made 2021 All-Pac-12 honorable mention and Pro Football Focus All-Pac-12 third team as a redshirt senior cornerback. Overall, he had 50 tackles, including a sack, plus 5 deflections, an interception and a fumble recovery while appearing in 9 games in 2021 (he missed the Oregon State, UCLA and Utah games with injuries) and starting 8 times (all but California). He had 5 tackles and an interception against Northern Colorado, 4 tackles, fumble recovery and deflection versus Texas A&M, 6 stops and a deflection against Minnesota, 7 tackles at Arizona State, 2 tackles against USC, 6 tackles and a deflection versus Arizona, 10 tackles at California, 5 tackles at Oregon and 5 stops and a deflection against Washington.
He had 19 tackles, including 1 for a loss, 4 deflections and an interception while starting all 6 games as a redshirt junior in 2020. He was 24th nationally in deflections (1.2, second in Pac-12). He had 3 tackles against UCLA, 4 tackles and 2 deflections at Stanford, 4 tackles versus San Diego State, 2 tackles and 2 deflections at Arizona, 3 stops and an interception against Utah and 3 tackles (with 1 for a loss) against Texas.
He saw action in 4 games at cornerback and on special teams (starting against Colorado State and Nebraska, then missed the Air Force game with an injury before appearing in the Arizona State and Arizona games) as a junior in 2019 before a shoulder injury sidelined him for the season and he was able to redshirt. Overall, he had 9 tackles, including a sack, plus a deflection. He had 4 tackles against Colorado State, 4 tackles with a sack versus Nebraska and a tackle and deflection at Arizona State.
As a 2018 sophomore while appearing in 6 games (Colorado State, New Hampshire, Arizona, Washington State, Utah, California) and starting 3 times (Arizona, Washington State, California), he had 9 tackles and 3 deflections. He had a deflection against New Hampshire, 4 tackles at Arizona, 2 tackles and a deflection against Washington State and 3 tackles and a deflection at California. Current Trojan Brenden Rice also attended Colorado.
JUNIOR COLLEGE: He had 20 tackles, an interception, deflection and fumble recovery as a freshman at College of San Mateo (Calif.) junior college in 2017. CSM went 11-2 (its winningest record in program history) and advanced to the state championship game.
HIGH SCHOOL: He made 2016 San Francisco Chronicle All-Metro honorable mention and All-Conference as a senior wide receiver and defensive back at Menlo-Atherton High in Atherton (Calif.). In 2016, he had 23 receptions for 620 yards (27.0 avg) with 9 TDs on offense and 6 interceptions on defense.
He also played basketball at Menlo-Atherton.
PERSONAL: He is currently working on his master’s degree in gerontology at USC. His cousin, KeeSean Johnson, was a wide receiver at Fresno State (2015-18) who set the school’s career receptions and receiving yardage records and then went to the NFL with the Arizona Cardinals (2019) and now the Philadelphia Eagles (2021-22).
