Bio
CAREER: In his 5-year career (4 at Mississippi State, 1 at USC), he recorded 608 carries for 3016 yards (5.0 avg.) with a long of 52 yards and 31 TDs. He also tallied 261 receptions for 1,546 yards (4.8 avg.) with a long of 32 and 5 TDs. On special teams, he had 11 kickoff returns for 231 yards (21.0 avg.) with a long of 33 yards. He also recorded 8 tackles. He appeared in 57 games with 44 starts. He missed just one contest in his career (vs Bowling Green, Sept. 24, 2022). Marks recorded at least 1 reception in the first 56 games of his collegiate career, missing only his last against Notre Dame due to injury. He was the first in MSU history with 214 career receptions, and also has the most receiving yards by a running back (1,225) in Mississippi State history. He holds the MSU record for consecutive games with a catch (45). Until his final game against Notre Dame, Marks held the longest active streak in the country for consecutive games with a catch (56).
2024: Marks appeared and started in 12 games (all but Texas A&M), rushing for 1133 yards on 198 carries with 9 TDs as well as 321 yards on 47 receptions, as a redshirt senior in 2024. He earned Second Team All-Big Ten honors for his performance.
He sits at 24th among USC's all-time single-season rushing leaders with 1,133 yards this season. He surpasses Anthony Davis who had 1,112 rushing yards in the 1973 season. Marks is USC's first 1,000-yard rusher since Ronald Jones II rushed for 1,550 yards in 2017. Since Reggie Bush and LenDale White were 1,000-yard rushers in 2005, just five USC RBs have been 1,000-yard season rushers: Joe McKnight (2009), Curtis McNeal (2011), Javorius Allen (2014), Ronald Jones II (2016 & 2017) and now Woody Marks. He also tied with WR Zachariah Branch for USC's 2024 receiving leader with 47 catches for 321 yards (6.83 avg.). As a 2019 senior at Carver (Ga.) HS, he was named Region 6-5A Offensive Player of the Year. He had 162 carries for 1,519 yards (9.4 avg.) and 23 TDs. He produced 100-yards rushing in 8 of 9 games. He also caught 4 passes for 43 yards (10.8 avg.).
As a junior, Marks ran for 1,500 yards on 140 carries (10.7 avg.) and 9 TDs. He also caught 5 passes for 92 yards (18.4 avg.) and 1 TD.
