Bio
CAREER: In his 2-year collegiate career (1 year at Texas and 1 year at USC), he has 35 tackles, 3 interceptions and 3 deflections while appearing in 15 games (with 2 starts).
2022: Alford looks to once again be a key contributor at defensive back as a redshirt sophomore in 2022.
2021: Alford, who transferred to USC from Texas in the spring of 2021, saw significant playing time at strong safety and on special teams as a redshirt freshman in 2021. Overall in 2021 while appearing in 11 games (all but California) and starting twice (UCLA and BYU), he made 31 tackles, a team-best 3 interceptions and 3 deflections. He missed the California game with leg injury. He won USC’s 2021 Co-Defensive Perimeter Player of the Year Award.
He had a tackle and deflection against San Jose State, a team-best 6 tackles at Washington State, 2 tackles against Oregon State, a tackle at Colorado, 3 tackles against Utah, 4 tackles and a deflection at Notre Dame, 2 tackles against Arizona 2 tackles and 2 interceptions at Arizona State (the first Trojan with 2 picks in a game since Jack Jones in 2017 versus California), 4 tackles and an interception against UCLA and 6 tackle and a deflection against BYU.
TEXAS: He appeared in 4 games (UTEP, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Kansas State) as a first-year freshman reserve safety at Texas in 2020, getting 4 tackles (3 versus UTEP and 1 at Kansas State).
HIGH SCHOOL: He made 2019 All-State, Houston Chronicle Top 100 and Austin American-Statesman Fab 55 as a senior safety at Shadow Creek High in Pearland (Tex.). He was injured in the first game of his 2019 senior season and missed the rest of the season.
As a 2018 junior, he made All-State 5A first team and All-District 10-5A Division 1 first team when he had 70 tackles, 6 interceptions (1 for a TD) and 21 deflections and returned 2 kickoffs. Shadow Creek went 15-1 overall in 2018 and made it to the state Division 1 5A championship game.
He also played basketball at Shadow Creek.
