THIS YEAR:
Graduate student Jaren Holmes is in his first season as a jumper on the USC track and field team, after competing for parts of five seasons at TCU (2022-24) and North Carolina (2020-21).
BEFORE USC:
Holmes is a graduate transfer who previously competed in the jumps at TCU and North Carolina. He has a personal best in the triple jump of 53-9.75/16.40m (+1.2) and a long jump PR of 25-6.75/7.79 (+0.6). He placed ninth in the triple jump at the 2023 NCAA Indoor Championships with a jump of 53-3 (16.23m). Holmes also advanced to the 2022 NCAA Outdoor Championships in the triple jump, placing 23rd with a jump of 50-9.50/15.48m (-0.1). Holmes ranks in the top five on TCU’s all-time list in the indoor and outdoor long jump and triple jump.
HIGH SCHOOL:
Holmes is a 2019 graduate of Riverbend High in Fredericksburg, Va. As a senior he was a five-time state champion, was named the 6A Indoor Track Athlete of the Year and the Virginia Outdoor Track Senior of the Year. His three outdoor titles in the high jump (6-8), triple jump (50-1.50) and long jump (24-0) were the first at the 6A state meet in any events since Grant Holloway in 2016. He was a 10-time regional champion, three-time national qualifier and set five school records – triple jump, long jump, high jump, 55m hurdles and 110m hurdles. He also played football and basketball all four years. He earned academic letters all four years.
PERSONAL:
Jaren was born on May 17, 2001 in Fredericksburg, Va.…His parents are Michael and Karen Holmes and he has one brother, Michael Jr….Holmes earned an undergraduate degree in Communication and is a working on a Gerontology Certificate at USC.
