THIS YEAR: Senior Dylan Gatua is in his third season as a distance runner for the USC track and field team.
2024: Gatua competed in four outdoor meets during the season. He set his 1500m PR of 4:04.00 to place eighth at the Trojan Invitational on March 23…He also placed second in the 3000m race that day with a season-best time of 8:58.05. He ran his first career 3000m steeplechase and had a time of 10:09.22 to place fourth at the USC-UCLA Dual Meet on April 28.
HIGH SCHOOL: Gatua is a 2021 graduate of West Ranch HS in Stevenson Ranch, Calif. He has a three-mile best of 14:39, a 1600m PR of 4:27, a 3200m best of 9:31.60 and a 5K best of 15:17. He finished ninth at the 2018 CIF Southern Section XC championships and then finished 14th at the 2018 CIF XC State Meet with a time of 15:23.7.
PERSONAL: Dylan was born on October 5, 2003 in Valencia, Calif. His parents are Christine and Charles Gatua and his has one older brother, Sean…His hobbies include collecting vinyl records, playing basketball and watching movies…His favorite musical artist is J.Cole…Lists his favorite movies as Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance), Get Out, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Django Unchained…His favorite food is mahamri and pasta…Says Reggie Miller is his sports hero because of his precision, dedication to his craft and his relentlessness…He is a Computer Engineering and Computer Science major at USC.

2022: Gatua was limited to one indoor meet due to injury.
