At USC:
Alexandra Tapley enters her fourth year in the USC program and third with the varsity squad...in 2009 Tapley rowed out of the four seat on the open eight boat at the San Diego Crew Classic which finished first, bringing the Carley Copley Cup to USC. At the 2009 NCAA Championships, she rowed from the bow in the Second Varsity Eight and appeared in various other spots as a versatile rower last year...in 2008 Tapley rowed out of the No. 2 seat in the open club eight boat at the San Diego Crew Classic to earn a second place finish... in 2007, rowed the No. 7 seat and bow seat for the Novice Eight, contributing to a win over LMU in the seasons[apos] first race and only the third appearance for a Trojan novice boat in the Pac-10 Championship Grand Final. Rowing Highlights:
Tapley rowed with the Community Rowing Club for three years... placed fourth at the U.S. Nationals in 2004... helped her crew to a silver medal at the 2006 NEIRA... won gold at the 2006 Connecticut Championships. Personal:
Alexandra Hambro Tapley was born in London, United Kingdom... a 2006 graduate of the Kent School in Kent, Conn., and a Prefontaine sports hero... a three-sport letter winner and captain in high school, playing tennis, lacrosse and rowing... grandfather Colin Tapley represented New Zealand in international hurdles competition and grandmother Patricia Hambro was a Jr. Wimbledon participant... lists traveling, horseback riding, polo and tennis amongst her favorite pastimes... majoring in international relations and communications... Her sister Elizabeth is ranked in swimming and squash in New England...is a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.
