CAREER: He has run for 340 yards on 55 carries (6.2 avg) with 3 TDs, a 7-yard reception and 1 tackle in his career. He has appeared in 11 games in his career.
2020: Stepp, who is a load to tackle, figures to be a key factor again at tailback as a sophomore in 2020.
2019: Stepp showed promise at tailback as a redshirt freshman in 2019 before getting hurt. Overall in 2019 while appearing in 7 games (Fresno State, Stanford, BYU, Utah, Washington, Notre Dame, Arizona), he had 307 yards on 48 carries (5.7 avg) with 3 TDs. He sprained his ankle against Arizona and was sidelined the rest of the season.
He had 33 yards on 3 carries against Stanford, 53 yards on 9 carries at BYU, 11 yards on 3 carries (with a short TD) against Utah, 62 yards on 10 carries at Washington, a team-best and career-high 82 yards on 10 carries, with a short TD, at Notre Dame and 66 yards on 13 carries with a 12-yard TD before leaving with an ankle sprain.
2018: Stepp saw action in 4 games (Colorado, Arizona State, California, Notre Dame) at tailback and on special teams as a first-year freshman in 2018, allowing him to redshirt. Overall in 2018, he ran for 33 yards on 7 carries (4.7 avg), caught a 7-yard pass and had a tackle. He suffered a concussion in 2018 fall camp, which sidelined him for the UNLV game. HIGH SCHOOL: He made 2017 PrepStar All-American, Indianapolis Star All-Central Indiana Super Team and Indianapolis Star All-City as a senior running back at Cathedral High in Indianapolis (Ind.). In 2017, he ran for 975 yards on 124 carries (7.9 avg) with 17 TDs and had 4 receptions for 24 yards (6.0 avg) despite missing 3 games with an injury.
He missed most of his 2016 junior season with a hamstring injury that occurred on his first carry of the season.
As a 2015 sophomore, he ran for 888 yards on 104 carries (8.5 avg) with 12 TDs and caught 3 passes for 32 yards (10.7 avg).
PERSONAL: He is a communication major at USC. His father, Marcus Stepp, played football at Miami (Ohio) in 1994 and 1995. His brother, Marcus Jr., was an outside linebacker at Saint Francis (2015-18), which won the 2016 and 2017 NAIA national championships.
