CAREER: In his USC career, he has run for 42 yards on 15 carries (2.8 avg), made 7 tackles, recovered a fumble and returned a kickoff 11 yards. He has appeared in 28 games in his career.
2021: The battle-tested Jountti, a valued backup tailback, saw action in USC first 9 games (all but UCLA, BYU and California) on special teams as a senior in 2021. Overall in 2021, he had a tackle (versus Arizona) and an 11-yard kickoff return (against Utah). He was sidelined for USC’s final 3 games with a neck sprain.
2020: Jountti was a backup tailback and played on special teams as a senior in 2020. Overall in 2020 while appearing in all 6 games, he ran for 4 yards on 2 carries (2.0 avg) and had a fumble recovery. The rushing yards came against Washington State and the fumble recovery was versus Arizona State.
2019: Jountti, a one-time walk-on who received a scholarship in the fall of 2019, saw action as a backup tailback and on special teams as a junior in 2019. Overall in 2019 while appearing in all 13 games, he ran for 38 yards on 13 carries (2.9 avg) and had 6 tackles. He won USC’s Joe Collins Walk-on Award and the Lifters Award.
He had 2 tackles against Fresno State, 1 tackle at Washington, 13 yards on 4 rushes (his first USC carries) and a tackle against Arizona, 5 yards on 2 carries at Colorado, 5 yards on 3 tries against Oregon, a 1-yard carry at Arizona State, 14 yards on 3 carries and a tackle at California and a tackle against UCLA.
2018: Jountti, a junior walk-on tailback, transferred to USC in the fall of 2018 from Sacramento State and sat out the 2018 season because of NCAA transfer rules. He won USC’s Service Team Co-Offensive Player of the Year Award.
SACRAMENTO STATE: He earned 2017 Big Sky All-Academic honors as a sophomore defensive back at Sacramento State, making 24 tackles.
As a 2016 freshman running back at Sacramento State, he ran for 141 yards on 24 carries (5.9 avg) with a TD, caught 2 passes for 8 yards (4.0 avg) and also returned 29 kickoffs for 714 yards (24.6 avg).
HIGH SCHOOL: He made 2015 Bakersfield Californian All-Area first team and All-South Yosemite League Co-Offensive MVP as a senior running back and outside linebacker at Liberty High in Bakersfield (Calif.). In 2015, he ran for 1,647 yards on 241 carries (6.8 avg) with 8 TDs and caught 27 passes for 424 yards (15.7 avg) with 4 TDs on offense, made 18 tackles (including 3 for losses, with 2 sacks) and a pass deflection on defense and returned 2 kickoffs for 31 yards (15.5 avg).
As a 2014 junior, he ran for 303 yards on 66 carries (4.6 avg) with 4 TDs and caught 30 passes for 482 yards (16.1 avg) with 6 TDs while playing running back and wide receiver, and also made 5 tackles.
As a 2013 sophomore, he ran for 390 yards on 73 carries (5.3 avg) with 7 TDs, caught 21 passes for 229 yards (10.9 avg) with 2 TDs, had a tackle and returned 4 kickoffs for 38 yards (9.5 avg).
He also was a triple and long jumper on Liberty’s track team (he had a triple jump best of 47-6 and placed 11th in the event at the 2016 State meet and also a best of 21-6 1/2 in the long jump), earning 2016 Bakersfield Californian All-Area first team and All-Southwest Yosemite League second team honors.
PERSONAL: He received his bachelor’s degree in psychology from USC in the summer of 2020 and now is working on a master’s degree in applied psychology with a 3.61 GPA. He made the 2020 Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll. His brother, Corbin, was a tailback at USC in 2017 and at Northern Arizona (2014-16).
