2021: Hewett will compete for key playing time at cornerback as a junior in 2021.
2020: Hewett was a backup cornerback and played on special teams as a sophomore in 2020. Overall in 2020 while appearing in USC’s first 4 games (all but UCLA and Oregon), he had 2 tackles (1 each against Arizona and Washington State). He suffered a concussion prior to the UCLA game and missed the UCLA and Oregon games.
2019: Hewett saw key action as a first-year freshman cornerback and safety in 2019. Overall in 2019 while appearing in 10 games (all but BYU, Washington, Notre Dame) and starting once (Arizona, at cornerback), he had 10 tackles and a deflection. He had a tackle against Arizona, 4 tackles at Colorado, a tackle and deflection at Arizona State, 3 tackles at California and 1 tackles against Iowa.
HIGH SCHOOL: He made 2018 PrepStar All-Midlands Region and All-District 21-6A first team as a senior safety and cornerback at North Shore Senior High in Houston (Tex.). North Shore won the 2018 Texas Class 6A Division I state championship.
He also ran track at North Shore, with a best of 10.51 (10.33 wind-aided) in the 100 meters. He was fifth in the 100 at the 2019 Texas 6A State Championship meet and ran legs on the 400- and 800-meter relay teams that placed third and fifth, respectively, in that meet.
PERSONAL: He is a sociology major at USC.
