THIS YEAR: Freshman Marjourie Lopez is in her first season as a distance runner on the USC track and field and cross country teams.
HIGH SCHOOL: Lopez is a 2023 graduate of Shadow Hills High in Indio, Calif. Lopez has a 3000m best of 10:01.91 and a 3200m best of 10:30.4, which she ran to place eighth at the prestigious 2023 Arcadia Invitational on April 8…her time is a Desert Empire League record. She ran 10:52.33 to win the CIF-SS Division II 3200m title on May 6. She won the 2021 DEL cross country 3-mile title with a then school record-time of 18:04.02. She won the title again in 2022 with a time of 17:32.4 on Nov. 2. She posted her 3-mile PR of 17:06.2 in placing fourth at the 2022 ASICS Temecula Twilight Meet on Oct. 1. Lopez placed ninth at the CIF California Cross Country Championships with a 5K PR of 18:11.00 on Nov. 26.
PERSONAL: Marjourie was born on November 10, 2005 in Indio, Calif…Her parents are Geraldine and Samuel Lopez and she has one older brother, Javan…Her hobbies include reading, spending time with family, including the dog and cat…Her favorite musical artists are Rauw Alejandro, Drake and SZA…Her favorite food is acai bowls…Some day would like to travel to Europe…Lists Jessica Hull because she always has a smile on her face…After school would like to become a physician assistant and to run professionally…She is an Environmental Sciences and Health major at USC.
