THIS YEAR: Graduate student Michael Phillippy is in his second season on the USC track and field team after transferring from Princeton.
2023: Phillippy advanced to the Pac-12 Championships in the 400m and placed 27th with a time of 47.33 on May 13. He posted a season-best 400m time of 46.59 to place second at the Aztec Invitational on March 25. He set his 200m personal best of 21.27 (+2.0) to place third at the Trojan Invitational on April 8. Competed in five indoor meets and had a best 400m time of 46.78 at the Tiger Paw Invitational on Feb. 10.
BEFORE USC: Phillippy joins the Trojans after graduating from Princeton, where he competed from 2019-2022. 2022: He reached the NCAA semifinals in the 400m and had a time of 46.47 to finish 21st...he also ran on the 4x400m relay which placed 23rd. He was a 2022 indoor first-team All-American in the DMR. He placed 12th in the 400m at the East Preliminary Rounds with a time of 46.10.Won Ivy League titles in the 4x400m and with a PR in the 400m (45.93). Indoors, ran on Princeton's DMR which finished fourth and won the Ivy League 400m title. 2021: Did not competed due to Covid-19. 2020: Competed in five indoor meets before the outdoor season was canceled due to Covid-19. 2019: Competed in four outdoor meets and six indoor meets.
HIGH SCHOOL: Phillippy, from Laguna Niguel, Cali. graduated from Aliso Niguel HS in 2018. He had bests in the 100m with a 11.40, the 200m with a school record 22.01 and the 400m with a school record 48.17. He claimed top honors in the Sea View League Finals as he won first in the 200m and the 400m. He earned 10th in the 400 M at the CIF State Championships. Phillippy also helped push his team to a 5th place finish at the CIF State Championships in the 4x400m relay.
PERSONAL: Micheal was born November 12, 1999 in Laguna Niguel, Calif… His parents are Stacey and Robert Phillippy, and he has one sister, Taylor… He enjoys cooking and reading in his free time…Aspires to coach track and field… He earned a degree in educational counseling from Princeton and is now working on a master's in Educational Counseling.
