Bio
THIS YEAR: Sophomore Simone Ballard is in her first season as a hurdler on the USC track and field team. Ballard transferred to USC after one season at Baylor.
BEFORE USC: Ballard competed as a hurdler during the 2022-23 indoor season for Baylor. She placed sixth in the 60m hurdles with a collegiate PR of 8.34 at the Big 12 Indoor Championships to earn All-Conference honors. She also had an indoor 60m PR of 7.93 at the Razorback Invitational.
HIGH SCHOOL: Ballard is a 2022 graduate of Mayde Creek High School in Houston, Texas. She was a 2-time Texas state champion and 7-time high school All-American in the hurdles. She had high school bests of 13.28w and 13.56 in the 100m hurdles. She also had a PR of 40.68 in the 300m hurdles which set the Texas high school record and ranked second among all high school hurdlers in 2022. She was named the Katy ISD Athlete of the Year for 2021-22. She was a member of the National Honor Society while at Mayde Creek High.
PERSONAL: Simone was born on March 21, 2004 in Philadelphia, Pa.…Her mother’s name is Angela…Lists her favorite foods as Alfredo pasta and chicken…Someday would like to travel to Bora Bora, Fiji and Saint Kitts…Her major at USC is Psychology and she would get into sports psychology and help athletes navigate issues associated with mental health…After USC would like to compete professionally and compete for Team USA.
